Today during her session at search marketing conference SMX West 2020, JumpFly SEO Director Jill Kocher Brown presented the results of a study on the organic search ranking value of ecommerce category pages compared to product pages.
After surveying over 30 of the top ecommerce sites, the data showed that category pages outperformed product pages in the number of keywords they ranked for, the amount of estimated traffic driven organically, and the pages’ potential to drive additional traffic.
The session, entitled “SEO For Ecommerce Category and Product Detail Pages,” was co-presented with moderator Chris Sherman, partner and vice president of Third Door Media, and Tony Verre, vice president of ecommerce for The Integer Group. In addition to the research results, Brown and Verre offered practical tips for using scalable search engine optimization (SEO) strategies to improve both category and product pages.
